Writing With Authority Online Writer's Course

pennsminilogoPennwriters, a multi-genre writer's organization, is offering an online course Writing with Authority. In this one-month online course, Seton Hill University creative writing faculty Jason Jack Miller and Heidi Ruby Miller will show you how to analyze your writing and use easy techniques that will increase the authority of your voice. You will: Discover how to spot passive voice; scrutinize their writing for generic nouns and indefinite pronouns; learn to avoid weak verbs and overuse of “be” in all its forms; practice using strong synonyms to find the best action verb; apply word cloud research to make their plot come alive. Borrie's Alzheimer's Book, Promoted on Alz.org
CathieBorrieA very nice interview with PDBer Cathie Borrie, author of The Long Hello: The Other Side of Alzheimer's, has appeared on the NYC chapter of Alz.org's website. In it, Borrie speaks of recording her mother's conversations and finding joy, humor, and love in her mother's uncommon answers. In the book, Borrie captures fleeting moments and snippets of daily happenings to bring to life her surprising seven-year journey with mother.

I grew up in St. Kits and remember when the old Fairview Mall had an aviary inside it. It was a huge bird cage full of budgies. As a boy I’d sit and watch fascinated by the fluttering little beings as they moved from branch to branch.
